Kathleen was a bright, faith-filled student who filled every minute of her day with making contributions to her high school community. She took a lead role in the school play, sang in the school choir, led the choir at the monthly chapel masses, sang in the Church choir, collected canned goods for the poor on Halloween, helped in all the fund raising activities that took place at the school, read at the school liturgies, the list goes on and on. What Kathleen felt was lacking in the school was a voice for the unborn. This was where her passion lay.

She was a strong advocate for right to life and wanted to protect the lives of these innocent children. She approached a teacher at the school and asked if she could start a school club to raise awareness and to offer opportunities to young girls who were pregnant but did not have the support to have the children. The teacher embraced the idea and VOICE was born.

“Voice Of Innocent Children Empowered” raised awareness, traveled to Ottawa, and set up a station in the school providing information and support on this issue. Kathleen even agreed to talk to a group of teachers counseling them on educating students and gaining support. She also was asked to serve as the first student representative on the local Right to Life Organization.

Kathleen has demonstrated that if you put your mind to it, all things are possible.
